The primary use for a lens hood is to prevent light from hitting the front lens element from the sides - reducing contrast and creating flare. Footage shot with a lens hood installed can have richer colors and deeper saturation. A secondary use for a lens hood's lens cap is to protect the lens.
The 1:1.5 aspect ratio of this Mennon screw-mount lens hood is designed for the special field of view of modern 16:9 video cameras. Made with high impact plastic, with a matte inside finish also comes with a White-Balance hood lens cap, and is designed for use on the Sony FDR-AX53 Camera in our package.
You've no doubt noticed that we've included these two additional tripods to our production package, and the reason is that in all of the more than 50 instructional videos I've shot over the years there hasn't been one time during post that I didn't wish I had some extra coverage: an extra wide shot, several more ext. establishing shots, even a bird flying by, because so much more can be done with it if you've got it - and anyone in the crew can be doing it because it's all a bonus when you get it... just use a few or more seconds of it any time you want, to add something over dialogue or cover a jump-cut.
4K cameras have been around for around 10 years now, and even though our production package only has one camera, there's a good probability that someone in your crew or circle of friends has an old 4K that's available for you to use for some extra coverage of whatever you're shooting - and if they'll let you borrow it for a couple of days we don't want you to 'push it too far' by also being forced to also ask for a tripod and a storage card, so that's why we've included these extras for you to use, even if you'd like to only have a documentary-type of behind-the-scenes 'Making of the Show' for your own enjoyment - or for instructional use.
This is another feature of our package that can come in handy to help avoid the time it takes to clean up trash after a shoot - if it's disposed of properly in timely matter after it becomes waste matter. And we even include some 13-gal. bags for you to use that will never become too big or heavy for even the youngest PA - if you're forcing your kids to work on the shoot, like I used to do.
